Coral Oaks is participating in the PGA Patriot Golf Day for our fourth consecutive year and are seeking donations to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation.
We asking that every
person who plays golf at Coral Oaks from 9/3-9/6 donates $1 each time they play to help benefit the Foundation. In appreciation of your support, Coral Oaks will give each person that donates a yardage guide for the course.
Patriot Golf Day donations have contributed more than five million dollars nationwide for scholarships over the past three years to spouses and children of U.S. military men and women killed or disabled while serving our great country.
Coral Oaks is proud to announce that TIB Bank has agreed to be the Presenting Sponsor for the 2010 City Championship Golf Tournament.
This year's dates are October 16 and 17 and the format will be 36 hole stroke play with five men's flights and one ladies' division. We are looking at the possibilty of a Pro - Am on the Friday before the event and will have more details as the tournament approaches.
Faster Play Tips
Try these tips to help speed up your round and make everyone's round more fun and enjoyable:
* Play ready golf;
* Walk briskly to and from your golf carts;
* Take extra clubs for each shot, as you might need to change your club selection;
* If you are a higher handicap player, play from the shortest teeing ground possible;
* Mark down your scores on the next tee box instead of next to the green;
* Keep up with the group ahead of you;
* Build a routine that lends itself to quicker play;
* Be ready when it's your turn.
Golf Season is Here!
September marks the beginning of Coral Oaks' charity tournament and golfing season. We'll host three charity golf tournaments in September and then start cranking up for the City Championship in October. Entry forms for the City Championship will be mailed to past participants in mid-September so be on the lookout and start practicing.
Our "PGA Family Golf Month" deals have been very popular throughout the summer so we've decided to extend them through the month of September. Family Golf Month specials include a family of four playing a round of golf for only $40 after 2:00 p.m. and kids receiving a free range token when Mom or Dad buys one. Click here to see all "Family Golf Month Specials."

Final Aerification
The final greens' aerification of the year was completed on August 24; however, due to recent rainy conditions, we were not able to aerify the tees, fairways and roughs last week as scheduled. As such, be on the lookout for details on when this final aerification will be completed.
Now that we are almost done with the summer cultural practices, it is time to begin grooming the course for the upcoming season. My staff and I would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding throughout the summer. It is important to do what we do in order to make Coral Oaks an enjoyable destination to play.

Your Golf Grip
Your grip is the only connection between you and your golf club. If you do not have a good grip, you cannot hit good shots.
To get a good grip, place the club in the base of your fingers in your left hand (if you place the club in the palm of your hand you will have a weak grip which will cause slices and huge loss of distance). Then, wrap your fingers around the club so the pad of your left hand is on top of the club.Put your thumb and index finger together to form a "v".This "v" should point between your chin and right shoulder.
With your right hand, simply shake hands with the club placing the palm of your right hand over the left thumb, keeping the club in your fingers.Again your thumb and index finger should be together forming the "v".At this point, both "v"s should be pointing between your chin and right shoulder.Grip pressure should be light.
This is where the "v"s becomes very important.If your tendency is to slice, move both "v's to the right, and if you tend to hook, move both "v"s to the left. A little experimentation should give you a neutral grip so your ball will fly straight.
Call Allen, Stan or Fred for private instruction whenever you need additional help with your game.
Fantastic Fairway Feats
Congratulations to Conner Arendell
Local Mariner High School Graduate and past Cape Coral City Champion golfer, Conner Arendell, qualified for his 5th consecutive U.S Amateur. Conner finished the Stroke Play portion of the tournament as the 15th seed and won his first two matches to make it to the final sixteen players before losing one-up to the number two seeded player. This is quite an impressive feat for a Cape Coral native! We wish Conner the best and look for great things to happen for him in his golfing future.
Remember to tell us your fairway feats so we can get them in the next newsletter.
